Samaya INSPIRE2

The light and robust 3-season tent for contemplation

On the occasion of the arrival of Samaya in the 3 seasons, Ghislain Pipers, CEO and Co-founder, shares with you the underside of the design of the Samaya INSPIRE2 in the smallest details.
What does the Samaya INSPIRE2 bring to the 3-season tent market?
Ghislain Pipers : We have taken the essential characteristics of the 3-season tent for 2 people, with 2 doors and 2 vestibules, by adding the promise of an immersive experience in nature in complete lightness and in complete safety.
Can you tell us more about this “immersive experience”?
GP : On each side of the tent are two very wide openings, equipped with large mosquito nets to offer a panoramic view, with no physical barrier to contemplation. We have opted for wide dimensions, with a length of 220 cm, for greater comfort. We have chosen our materials very specifically, in order to respect our criteria of lightness and compactness with a weight of 1590 g for a packed volume of 4.6 L.
What does it give in technical performance?
GP : We get a much better waterproofness than market standards. For the floor, it is equivalent to 10,000 mm, which is at least 3x more than what is usually found on the market. The 3-layer fabric walls offer the same impermeability as the floor, 8x higher than market standards, while maintaining high breathability and air permeability. This is made possible by our Nanovent® technology, which can be found on both our 4-season and 3-season tents. We had the same requirement for the mechanical strength of the materials. We put the Samaya INSPIRE2 through a whole series of tests in our laboratory and in the field: traction, perforation, tearing, abrasion, etc. For the floor, for example, we have chosen a 70 denier PU/Silicone nylon which offers mechanical performance about 2x better than what we usually find on this type of tent.

Attention to detail is also the hallmark of Samaya. In the case of the Samaya INSPIRE2, where is it particularly glaring?
GP : We can't name them all! I think it's important to mention our removable vestibules and our "light pockets". Vestibules are zipped onto the tent to add versatility and comfort, without compromising on waterproofing. By removing one vestibule, you can admire the sunset and by removing the second, you can enjoy the sunrise! We have also included 'light pockets' at both inner ends of the Samaya INSPIRE2, so that the light from the headlamp can be diffused evenly throughout the interior of the tent, making camping life more comfortable and enjoyable. . We tested a whole range of different colors, in order to find the specific fabric that allowed the best diffusion of light. If we are interested " to the details of this detail , we have placed small patches at the corners of each of these pockets, in order to secure them and ensure their durability. The obsession with detail is part of Samaya's DNA. I could talk about the details of the Samaya INSPIRE2 for hours!
